Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed as a tribute to the original Centurians Lunchbox cache which has been muggled and now archived. That was my first ever cache find back in 2006 and I was dismayed when it finally 'died', so I have resurrected it with the blessing of the original cache owner CGBrock, and sited it a bit further up the hill.

The story goes that in 178AD, a weary Roman soldier from the Second Legion Augusta based in Exeter stopped for his lunch on the long march to Lincoln along The Fosse Way. Choosing a nice shady spot with a splendid view of Glastonbury Tor he rested and ate a hearty meal. Suddenly in the distance he spotted a group of Celtic tribesmen, and as he was on his own with no chance of winning the inevitable scuffle, he dropped his lunch box and ran like the wind!
Over the years the Centurion's lunchbox became lost, and lay quietly waiting for an amateur archaeologist with a magic GPS receiver to rediscover it and its contents.

A hilly walk, best approached from the south, moderately steep in places. Tarmac some of the way, but rocky and a bit muddy for about half the walk. Lovely views towards Glastonbury Tor and Exmoor from near the cache site. Just carry further on past for about twenty yards. The cache can be reached from the north, but you will have to trudge through some "cowsh" on the way!

The cache is a one litre clip-lock box in a camo bag and contains the usual selection of goodies. Please hide well again as this area if frequented by ubiquitous dog walkers.

Please note: It is not necessary to touch the nearby dry-stone wall or move any rocks!

Limited parking is available at N51°11.256 W002°31.786. More space at weekends.

Please remember to log the NAMES of Travel Bugs and Geocoins which you log in and out. It makes it easier to trace them if they go missing.
