A short, stiff climb to an old quarry. Steep slopes and loose rocks. It might well be combined with a visit to the nearby Black Coppice Geocache (GC16XMW) and others.
There's a green eyed grey-ish idol to the North of Grain Pole Hill.
There's a little cricket field when you look down.
And a broken-hearted cacher searches sadly in the gloom,
While the little god looks West, towards the town.
This is a belated celebration of Ron & Margaret's 1000th find. The grand cache is a little idol holding (well over) a grand in cash. At the start it held: -
Bank of Geocash - 1x£50, 1x£20, 2x£10, 2x£5.
Banca d'Italia - 1000 lire.
Narodowy Bank Polski - 10 zloty.
Uzbekistan - 1x100, 1x25 thingies?
Bank Negara Malaysia - 1 rinngit
Cong Hou Xa Hoi Chu Nghia Viet Nam - 5000 dong.
Total - 6236 units of currency - all sources.
It also held a pair of tweezers.
You are welcome to take a bank note if you are in need.
Handle the little idol with care - he/she is fragile.
Update 20 May 2009. The fragile little idol has been replaced by one from the animal kingdom. The first line of the poem should now read "There's a Bright Eyed brown-ish idol.........."
Update 05 March 2015. The bright eyed idol has been replaced, after a long spell on duty, by an inscrutable oriental, whose name is "Fragile", so please handle him carefully. Stash of cash replenished.
