As Rotten As It Gets Traditional Geocache

It was a pretty tough week so far so I grabbed my camera to see if the clouds would break and give me a glimpse of the beach sunset.  Some days that’s all you need to settle the stress and strife that life can throw your way.  Today was one of those days.  The cooler weather was a blessing but the clouds didn’t seem to want to cooperate.  Then as sunset time drew near a break popped open in the clouds and out popped the sun, just moments away from sneaking down below the horizon.  And to add to the beauty of the scene a sailboat drifted across the setting sun in a ballet of perfect timing.  Okay, it became a lot less rotten at this point.

As the sun set, the breeze kicked in and darkness settled across the beach, I drove over the this area to see if they had finalized the construction that had been seemingly never ending, rebuilding this pier and the facilities around it.  Sure enough, the construction was gone and what was left was a great improvement to what used to be here.  I wandered down the pier, past the restaurant, past the fishermen, out to where the bench swings were located at the end and saw that the view of the water, the lights, the boats achored nearby and the vehicles traveling across the Cortez Bridge was pretty relaxing. 

As I soaked in the scenery that little voice woke up in my head (and today was pretty much in a fog so it was good for anything to be waking up) and chanted out “bring others here”.  A fraction of a second passed when the answer popped in, place a geocache out here.  So I searched around but it didn’t take long to find a neat little hiding spot.  So off to the geo-Jeep I went for a container and Mr. Garmin.  As I was finalizing the spot I found an even better spot and had to make another trip to the parking lot to get what I finally placed.  And it was a perfect fit.

So as you seek this cache, expect muggles.  Plenty of them.  In fact they were within arm’s reach when this was hidden and checked but if I can do this unnoticed then be confident your stealthy skills will get you a find without much trouble.  This is a micro so bring your own pen, use you best stealthy skills when you find it and sign the log, and be sure you hide it securely so no one has to dive in to retrieve it.  This is one to take some time and enjoy.  Plenty of public parking, less then an eighth mile walk (depending on how close you can park) and plenty of places to fish or eat (or both) in this quant little beachside community.
