Required Reading Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

childofatom: I have decided to archive this cache for several reasons. The hide has been plagued with trouble from the start, and I believe that it was hidden in the front door of some animal. Since the cache has been around for a while I think most everyone who would find it has (Sorry, Kbd71!), plus it opens space for another "Gate" puzzle. Thank you to everyone who has found it in the past few years, and look for "It Begins At The Mariners' Gate," coming soon to a location nearby.

Geocache Description:

Cache is not at the listed coordinates but is a short walk away. Initial location is in the Shakespeare Garden in Central Park, near Belvedere Castle.

Unfortunately most people only know Shakespeare because they were required to read his plays in high school, but he also wrote over a hundred sonnets, which are short 14 line poems, they are some of the best love poetry in the English language. The initial coordinates of this cache will take you to the Shakespeare Garden, a great place to sit and read some great poetry. In fact this garden was designed to immerse you in Shakespearean imagery as every flower in the garden is mentioned somewhere in his body of work. I've chosen 7 sonnets for you to read, and after reading them you should know where the final cache is. The sonnets don't have titles so traditionally they are referred to by their first lines. First on your reading list is "Take all my loves, my love, yea take them all." Follow that up with "Betwixt mine eye and heart a league is took." Then have a look at "That you were once unkind befriends me now," and then read "When forty winters shall besiege thy brow." I really think they will multiply your enjoyment of each other when read together. Next on your reading list is "That time of year thou mayst in me behold," which is one of my favorites. Then "That god forbid, that made me first your slave," and finally finish up your reading with "Is it for fear to wet a widow's eye." Alright, enough reading! Go get your reward!
