 Cacilhas, uma das portas de entrada na cidade, guarda os mais antigos vestígios humanos de Almada e tradições populares e religiosas a não perder.
As burricadas (Julho) são um bom exemplo, recordando uma das formas de subsistência da população - o transporte de passageiros. No início do séc. XX, os passeios de burro atraiam a pequena e média burguesia, nomeadamente de Lisboa, que desembarcava no Largo de Cacilhas, o ponto de partida dos circuitos. Para "montar" os animais eram precisam cilhas - a "faixa de tecido ou correia larga que passa por debaixo da barriga das cavalgaduras para segurar a sela ou a carga" - e por isso era usual ouvir-se ali o grito: "dá cá cilhas". Da expressão surge o nome da freguesia.
Outro ponto de atracção turística é a procissão de N.ª S.ª do Bom Sucesso, uma das três manifestações religiosas do concelho. Faz-se desde o terramoto de 1755, ano em que as águas do Tejo, em fúria, terão sido acalmadas pela imagem da santa, que foi levada pelos pescadores até às margens do rio.
Uma visita à estação arqueológica da Quinta do Almaraz (marcação prévia) é aconselhada a quem quiser conhecer as ocupações mais antigas do concelho. Permite conhecer um povoado indígena da Idade do Bronze (séc. VIII a.C.), ocupado mais tarde por um entreposto comercial fenício, com um povoado da Idade do Ferro (séc. VII a. C.), que atestam as ancestrais ligações das gentes ao rio.
O Jardim do Rio é outro polo de atracção da freguesia, especialmente para quem gosta de um lugar sossegado à beira rio, onde apenas se ouve o zunir do vento e o bulício das águas. Para largar âncoras neste espaço, é preciso percorrer o Cais do Ginjal, uma antiga zona industrial, à beira Tejo.

The “burricadas” (in July) are a good example, remembering one of the ways that people used to live – the passenger transportation. In the beginning of the XX century, the bourgeoisie was attracted by the donkeys, a way of transportation. Specifically, of Lisbon, that arrived in the “Largo of Cacilhas”, the starting point of the circuits. To ride the animals, it was necessary a “cilha” – the fabric band or the large leather strap that passes under the belly of the horse, in order to hold the load - so it was usual to hear "dá cá cilhas". From this expression comes the name of the village.
Another interesting point it’s the “ Procissão de N.ª S.ª do Bom Sucesso”, one of the three religious manifestations of the council. It’s popular since the 1755’s earthquake, when the waters of the Tagus River, angrily, were calmed down by the image of the saint, that was taken through the fishermen to the sides of the river.
A visit to the archaeological station of the “Quinta do Almaraz “ (you need to make a reservation anticipatorily) is advised to those that want to meet the oldest places of the council. You can meet a aboriginal people that lived in the bronze Era. (VIII century. b.C.), occupied, later, by a Phoenician commercial warehouse commercial, with a people of the Iron Era (VII century b.C), that proves the ancestral connections of the people of the river.
The “Jardim do Rio” (Garden of the River) is another point of interest, especially to those that like a quite place near the river, where you can only listen the wind and the water. To meet this place, it’s necessary to walk through the “Cais do Ginjal”, an old industrial zone, near the Tagus River.
