Sem explicação, diariamente este homem, nesta cidade fechada, onde cada um vive no seu próprio mundo, vai repetindo o milagre da comunicação entre humanos... É conhecido como o senhor do adeus...

Para quem não o conhece, é imperativo passar no Saldanha por volta das 23h e disfrutar de um momento que já faz parte da cidade! Como é possível um simples gesto proporcionar um momento, apesar de um pouco "estranho", agradável para quem passa... Afinal se não fossem estas "pequenas" diferenças, a vida seria sempre igual... O homem que diz adeus.

É ele o homem que noite após noite acena aos carros que passam na Avenida Fontes Pereira de Melo, em Lisboa. É por ele que tocam as buzinas, que se atiram beijos e sorrisos, que se gritam «boas noites!» e «adeus!», numa «onda de comunicação» que já dura há quatro anos e que nem sequer ele sabe explicar muito bem como começou. Numa cidade de estranhos em mundos fechados este é o seu «milagre». E é também o seu remédio. Há quem lhe chame o «senhor do adeus». Mas «senhor» é coisa que detesta que lhe chamem. Aos 72 anos, João Paulo Serra tem a inocência de uma criança, o espírito de um jovem, mas o olhar nostálgico de um ancião que sente «ter aprendido com a vida tarde de mais». A sua roupa clássica e a ondulação do cabelo grisalho disfarçada com gel, dão-lhe um ar meio aristocrático, que já faz parte da paisagem do Saldanha. Todos o conhecem e quem trabalha nas redondezas sabe o seu percurso de cor.

«Chega por volta das onze, meia-noite... Começa pela zona do Monumental, vai descendo a rua até ao Marquês e depois sobe, parando sempre em pontos estratégicos.»

O objectivo desta cache é dar-vos a conhecer este homem e sentir o calor humano que ele transmite. Assim, recomendamos que esta cache seja feita a partir das 23h, e que digam adeus, buzinem ou simplesmente acenem!

Without explanation, daily this man, in this closed city, where each one lives in its own world, repeats the miracle of the communication between human beings... He is known as "senhor do adeus"...

For who don't know him, it is imperative to pass in the Saldanha around 23h and enjoy a moment that already is part of the city! How is it possible that a simple gesture provides a moment, although a little "strange", pleasant to who passes... After all, if there were not these "small" differences, the life would always be equal... The man who says good bye.

He's the one who night after night waves to the cars that pass in the Avenue Fontes Pereira de Melo, in Lisbon. It's for him that horns honk, that "good nights" and "good byes" are thrown, in a wave of communication that already lasts for four years and not even he can explain very well how it started. In a city of strangers in closed worlds this is his "miracle". And it's also his remedy.

There are people who call him "senhor do adeus". But "Senhor" is something he doesn't like to be called. At 72 years of age, João Paulo Serra has the innocence of a child, the spirit of a young, but the nostalgic look of a ancient that feels "learned too late with the life". Its classic clothes and the undulation of the grey hair, give him an aristocratic touch, that is already part of the landscape of the Saldanha. Everybody knows him and who works in the neighbourhood knows its path.

"It arrives around eleven, midnight... It starts in the Monumental area, goes down the street until the Marquês de Pombal and later it goes up, stopping always in strategical points."

The goal of this cache, beyond a simple and easy found, is to get to know this man and his story and to feel the human touch that he transmits by a simple gesture. Therefore, we recommend to visit this cache from 23h, and say hello, honk or simply wave him!
