If the cache meets the requirements for virtual cache I would be more than happy to review a new
submission for a virtual, but it is unfair to the finders of this cache that found it as a traditional to have credit for a virtual.

Geocache Description:

This Cache is located in the Rockway Conservation Area, only 8 Km west of St. Catharines.

The Rockway Conservation Area (RCA) is open to the public on a year round basis, free of charge. Hours of allowed access are 8 AM to 8 PM. RCA is a 'rustic' area, set aside to preserve, maintain and enhance the natural environment of the Niagara Escarpment. An excellent description of the Rockway Conservation Area has been prepared by the Environmental Policy Institute, a unit of the Centre for the Environment at Brock University. The RCA is owned by the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority. The geology of the RCA is extremely interesting. Within the RCA, the falls of Fifteen Mile Creek make an 18.3 meter plunge over the escarpment, although the flow withers to nothing during dry periods. Among the RCA's many unique features is the natural saltwater spring that is the subject of this virtual cache. The documented use of this spring as a source of exceptionally pure salt dates back to 1792. You will know that you have arrived at the virtual cache when you find some old wooden planks, in the shape of a rectangle, lying in wet grass and partially submerged in water. This is the salt well.

Originally this was a traditional cache, with the stash in an ammo can, located within the hollow part, of the stump-end, of a fallen tree, located at N43°07.575' W079°18.564'. Unfortunately I had to remove the stash on 23-MAY-2003 because I have moved out of the Niagara area and would have been unable to maintain the physical cache. Rather than archive this cache, I decided to make it virtual, with the salt spring as the target.

If you want to add a little extra hiking to the virtual cache, why not visit the 'old' coordinates (provided in the previous paragraph) and see if you can find the site of the previous stash. If you do so, please mention this fact when you log your find of the virtual cache.
