Localizado na freguesia de Cervães, o Santuário de
Nossa Senhora do Bom Despacho, foi construído no séc. XVII. A
fachada é tipicamente minhota, de contornos simples e harmoniosos,
com dois altos campanários. A planta é rectangular e o altar fica
situado entre duas grandes rochas que lhe dão um aspecto de gruta.
A 10 de Agosto de 1644, foi celebrada a primeira
missa.
O fundador deste Santuário foi o
eremitão, João da Cruz, natural da freguesia de Bela, em Monção:
estando gravemente doente, pediu a cura a Deus e prometeu erguer um
altar dedicado à Virgem, caso fosse curado. Com as esmolas que ia
recebendo, deu início à construção. O primeiro Domingo de Junho é o
dia da festa anual da qual faz parte uma procissão, a missa campal
e a feira. Na véspera, a imagem da Senhora é levada para uma Igreja
de uma freguesia vizinha, seja do concelho de Vila Verde ou
Barcelos. É a partir daqui que tem início a procissão que vai
terminar no Santuário de Nossa Senhora do Bom
Despacho.
A participação da
população na organização desta festa é muito grande. Os diversos
lugares da freguesia constroem arcos nas ruas onde vai passar a
procissão que são decorados com flores e lenços regionais. No chão,
fazem tapetes de flores com motivos vegetalistas e religiosos que,
juntamente com os arcos, criam um ambiente de muita cor. A disputa
entre os lugares da freguesia é também uma tradição e manifesta-se
na dimensão do arruado, conjunto de arcos construído, e no tapete
mais bonito. No dia da procissão, são colocadas colchas nas
janelas, em sinal de devoção, alegria, festa e respeito pela
virgem. Às crianças está atribuída a função de atirarem flores à
passagem do andor. De acordo com a promessa que esteve na origem da
construção do Santuário, são fundamentalmente atribuídas à Senhora
do Bom Despacho a concessão de graças relacionadas com a saúde.
Porém, também lhe são dirigidos pedidos de protecção para a
fertilidade e gravidez da mulher e a produção agrícola.
As

Located in the
parish of
Cervães, the Shrine of
Nossa
Senhora do Bom Despachor, was built in the
seventeenth century. XVII. The facade has simple contours and
smooth, with two high bell towers. The plan is rectangular
and the altar is located between two large rocks that give it
an aspect of cave. On 10 August 1644, the first mass was
celebrated.
The founder of this shrine was eremitão, João da Cruz,
a native of the village of Bela in Monção: being seriously ill,
asked the cure to God and promised to erect an altar dedicated to
the Virgin, if cured. With handouts that would receive, it began

festival which is part of a procession, the Mass and pitched
