Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden on an Iron Age fort, Burrow Mound, in south west Shropshire, UK. It is a bracing walk up to the top, but the views are magificent once you get there. The lat and long is not accurate, I have used the UK Ordnance Survey Grid system for location.

There are a number of well preserved Iron Age forts in south west Shropshire, built to preserve the local villagers from the ravages of the Roman invaders. There is a good display of Iron Age artifacts at Clun Museum locally, but determining opening times defeats us! Whilst walking up to the fort you should see a number of the bird specialities of the area depending on the time of year. When we placed the cache we were able to watch courting Ravens, Buzzards and Siskins feeding. During the spring Redstart and others will be breeding in the woods.

The cache is hidden in a cavity under a tree at ground level and is covered with foliage and some stones. There is a fallen tree next to the cache tree. Visit here to look at some pics of the site. The location is SO 38003 83014, elevation 1166ft.
