Vepric - Makarska

Croatian Our Lady of the Lourdes shrine was founded in 1908 by the bishop Dr. Juraj Caric. The natural cave and the entire landscape of small hills, vegetation and a stream is reminiscent of the Lourdes, where in 1858, the Blessed Virgin Mary revealed herself to Bernardici Soubirous 18 times. Chapel with a sacristy, an altar, confession rooms, stations of the Cross, a retreat centre and procession paths were erected at the shrine. Due to its natural splendour and serenity, this shrine is well visited throughout the year and especially during the pilgrimage days: 11.02, 25.03, 15.08, and 8.09.

Kroatische lurdisches Heiligtum Vepric befindet sich am westlichen Eingang in der Stadt Makarska. Im harmonischen Naturambient, an dem Abhang des Hügels, in dessen Tall ein Bach plätschert, werden viele Besucher Frieden und Geistigkeit spüren. Das Heiligtum hat Bischoph dr. Juraj Caric im Jahre 1908 ergründet und ist an diesem Ort auch bestattet worden. Die Naturhöhle und die ganze Landschaft mit Hügeln, Gewächsen und dem Bach erinnert an Lourdes. Der Altar ist in der Höhle, in einer Spaltte des Felses, aufgebaut. Und dies wird mit Sicherheit viele Blicke auf sich beziehen. Durch das Heiligtum sind einige Statuen verteilt, so wie auch Haltestellen des Kreuzwegs. Durch das ganze Jahr hindurch besuchen Pilger aus der ganzen Welt dieses nicht alltägliche Kultur- und Naturphänomen.
