Naxos.About the place : The very early stages of human habitation on Naxos are lost in the mists of myth. In this island Zeus, Apollo, Dionysus, and Ariadne, Demeter and Artemis were worshiped above all. Zeus, father of all gods, was born in Crete but was brought up in Naxos. Dionysus was born in Naxos and the Nymphs Filia, Kleide and Koronis hiding him in the cave of Koronos.
Arhaeological remains prove the existence of a developed society from as early as the 4th millenium BC. One of the most important monuments on the island is The sanctuary of Gyroula that lies at the fertile valley of Sangri village (11km from Hora). This cache will bring you at this area.
