Geocache Description:

The village of Chamarel in the southwest of Mauritius is the home to two natural wonders. The first natural wonder is the 83m high Cascade Chamarel. The water falls from the River St Denis in the Black River Mountains and goes seaward to form the River du Cap. The second and even more impressive natural wonder are the Coloured Earths of Chamarel. The earths are especially unusual. The earths were grown by volcanic rocks that cooled down at different temperatures. That may be one reason why the earths are multi-coloured. Another reason could be, that different minerals in the volcanic ash are responsible for the huge amount of colours. Due to wind and water erosion the earths form beautiful patterns of color in the exposed hillsides. To enter the area with the Coloured Earths and the waterfall you have to pay a small entrance fee. Best time to visit the Coloured Earths is sunrise. Please don´t dig in the earths and don´t take the earths with you! To log the cache you have to answer the questions correctly. Questions: 1. Which kind of colours can NOT be find at Chamarel? To help you during your field work, here is a choice of colours that cannot be find there: Blue, Red, Purple, Violet, Yellow, Black, Brown, Green, White, Orange, Grey. 2.What kind of animals can be found nearby the Coloured Earths? Logs without answering the questions via E-Mail correctly and/or without a photo of you in front of the earths will be deleted! Do not give hint or spoiler the answers together with your logs. These logs will be deleted! The park is open everyday from 9 am until 5 pm. Entrance fee is Rs. 550 for adults.
