Geocache Description:

This cache is located at Denning’s Point State Park along the Hudson River in Beacon, NY. This area is part of the Hudson Highlands Park and is a beautiful area. This area is terrific for wildlife, especially birds and waterfowl of all kinds. The parking is a little way from the trailhead, but it’s an easy, relatively flat walk. Park by the Beacon Water Treatment Plant at the end of Denning’s Avenue. Now, this may not seem like a nice place to start a nature hike, but it will once you walk a short distance. Use your better judgement when parking and don’t block any of the roads or gates. There’s plenty of room. From the parking you’ll walk along an old road and cross a bridge over the train tracks. This is where you’ll find the trailhead. From here you’ll take a left and pass by a large, abandoned building. Once past the building turn right to spot the white trail markers. This trail creates a loop on Denning’s Point so you can decide which way to go.

This cache is a cammo’d 6x6 Lock-N-Lock along the western edge of the point with a nice view of the Hudson River. Follow the white trail until you are very close to the cache when you’ll find an unmarked trail towards the river. The cache is within 30' of the trail. Please rehide it just as you find it. Feel free to experience some of the surroundings as there is lots of lost history here. Check for DP’s View of Bannerman’s and MADD House caches along this loop. Entire loop hike is around 2.5 miles.

NOTE: Denning’s Point is closed to the public from December 1st - March 31st because of efforts to restore the Bald Eagle in the Hudson Valley. During this time, I will temporarily disable the caches here and will pull them so that there is no temptation to disrupt this habitat.

This cache is place with NYS Parks Geocaching permit # 22-07
