How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

A simple puzzle cache which can be found by either the easy or the hard way, your choice??

This puzzle cache was set for the Oxnard Open: Puzzles and Pleasure event on Tuesday, October October 9, 2007 at the Pirates and Grog, GC167QP. If you are attending this event, be sure to pick up a card for "Pirate's Hold Em".

Anyone can find this cache. Please leave the playing cards in the cache for those attending the event or you will be summoned to walk the plank. Thanks Matey!

THE LISTED COORDINATES WILL NOT LEAD YOU TO THE CACHE.

They are for a location in Petit Park which is also located within two miles of Ground Zero for OXNARD, CA

Premium Membership in Geocaching.com offers many benefits. These include pocket queries and notifications of cache publication or changes for a user specified area. These inquiries include the distances to the caches. In order to calculate these distances, Geocaching.com has established baseline coordinates in each city/town from which to make these measurements. You will need to determine the baseline coordinates for the area of OXNARD where the zipcode has three matching digits.

Thanks to Team Spoonhead for creating the original Ground Zero (GCJ3QV). You may find reviewing this cache or my other Ground Zero cache "Ground Zero IV" (GCM2PD) helpful.

Once you locate the coordinates for Ground Zero, you must project a waypoint for the cache. You will find the cache if you walk 239.054 yards for 183.628 degrees true. Remember to adjust your compass for declination.

It is possible to determine the final coordinates without leaving your computer or desk with pencil and paper. Consider downloading Geocalc.exe from the Internet. It will prove to be an invaluable tool. Initial cache contents include a pair of alkaline AA batteries, a Caching Place Geo-pin, a Sacagawea, pencil and logsheet.

Congratulations to MaxGold on the FTF !!
