Geocache Description:

You are looking for a DECON KIT, camouflaged.

Welcome to Malibu Creek State Park

This cache is located near the visitor center.

The cache is available anytime the park is open (Dawn to Dusk) but the Visitor Center is only open on weekends, from Noon to 4:00 PM.

Malibu Creek State Park has over 4,000 acres of land, where visitors go hiking, camping, fishing, birding, and horseback riding.

There is a lot of history at the park.  This land was the center of the Chumash Native American people for centuries.  The park has been used to film many movies and TV programs, including:

  • M*A*S*H (both the movie and the TV series)
  • Planet Of The Apes
  • Pleasantville
  • Tarzan
  • New Swiss Family Robinson
  • ....Much more

The land used for MASH was once owned by 20th Century Fox, but the state purchased the land in 1974.

If you come by on the weekend, I recommend stopping at the Visitor Center.  There are a lot of things you can learn about the land, including the wildlife and the vegetation.  On some Sundays, you may even find me there, as I am one of the park docents!

Enjoy the cache, and enjoy your time at this fabulous park!
