Geocache Description:

This cache is a mid-size Lock-N-Lock camo-taped container. Its original contents included: pencil, a camera, a poncho, a purple highlighter, a mini flashlight, a tiger pencil topper, a water pistol, a babbling brook audio CD, and a travel bug. When you find the cache, please use the camera to take your picture. Pictures will be posted on this cache site when the camera is full. The coordinates were averaged 1100 times to within 10 feet.

Near this section of the trail on November 16, 1928 at 12:01 pm, a freight train running at a high rate of speed crashed into the rear of passenger train number 57 while backing into Fries Junction. Three people were killed and six others were injured. On that morning while preparing for work as a brakeman on the train, Lee Manuel told his wife that he wished he didn't have to go to work. He had dreamed that night of a bad wreck on the rail line and the difficulty of getting to the crash site. At 12:01pm, Lee Manuel would be one of the three persons killed in the accident. See the attached photo taken of the wreck.
