O Estádio AXA ou
Estádio Municipal de Braga, conhecido por "A Pedreira", afirma-se
como uma mais-valia para o concelho, valorizando a cidade e a
região. Projectado pelo Arquitecto português Eduardo Souto Moura e
pelo Engenheiro português Rui Furtado (da empresa afaconsult), é
uma obra de particular beleza, enquanto peça de arquitectura e de
invulgar engenharia «uma grande obra de arte», que vem dar corpo ao
Parque Urbano implantado na encosta do Monte Castro, na periferia
da área urbana de Braga virado para o vale do Rio Cávado. O estádio
é actualmente utilizado pelo Sporting Clube de Braga.
Trata-se de um
projecto de linhas arquitectónicas inovadoras, próprias de um
estádio com 30 mil lugares de capacidade e apenas duas bancadas
laterais, sendo que os topos do estádio são constituídos pelo
anfiteatro rupestre da encosta do monte. A cobertura assume como
referência "as pontes construídas pela civilização Inca", no Peru,
de modo a iluminar a relva com luz natural, preservando assim a
qualidade natural do relvado.
Refira-se que esta obra foi contemplada com o Prémio
Secil em 2004 (Categoria Arquitectura), e em 2005 (Categoria
Engenharia Civil), prémio este que distingue de dois em dois anos
pares e de dois em dois anos ímpares as mais significativas obras
de Arquitectura e Engenharia realizadas nesse período.
Em 9 de Julho de
2007, foi anunciado o acordo entre o Sporting Clube de Braga e o
companhia de seguros AXA, na qual o estádio muda de nome para
Estádio AXA. |

The AXA Stadium or Braga
Municipal Stadium, known as "The Quarry", it is stated as an asset
to the county, promoting the city and region. Designed by
Portuguese architect Eduardo Souto Moura by the Engineer and
Portuguese Rui Furtado (the company afaconsult) is a work of
particular beauty, as a piece of unique architecture and
engineering «a great work of art», which is creating the Urban Park
located the slope of Monte Castro, on the periphery of the urban
area of Braga facing the valley of the Rio Cávado. The stadium is
currently used by the Sporting Clube de Braga.
This is a project of innovative architectural lines, suitable for
a stadium with capacity of 30 thousand seats and only two side
benches, and the tops of the stadium are the rock amphitheater of
the slope of the hill. The coverage is as a reference "the bridges
built by the Inca civilization" in Peru in order to illuminate the
lawn with natural light, thus preserving the natural quality of the
lawn.
It should be noted that this work was included with the Secil
Prize in 2004 (Architecture Category) and 2005 (Civil Engineering
Category), which distinguishes this prize every two years and every
two odd years the most significant works of Architecture and
Engineering held in that period.
On 9 July 2007, the agreement was announced between Sporting Clube
de Braga and the insurance company AXA, where the stadium changed
its name to AXA Stadium. |
