[FIN] Metsäntutkimuslaitos METLAn Joensuun tutkimuskeskus on Suomen suurin puinen toimistorakennus ja Euroopan suurin metsäntutkimuskeskus.
METLAn kokoushuone, pärekattoinen konferenssitila talon sisäpihalla, muistuttaa ylösalaisin käännettyä venettä, jonka lasijulkisivu jakaa osittain rakennuksen ulkopuolelle ja osittain sen sisäpuolelle.
Pihanpuoleista sisäänkäyntiä reunustavat sata vuotta vanhasta puutavarasta tehdyt seinät, jotka on suojattu sääolosuhteita vastaan mäntytervalla, perinteisellä ja luonnonmukaisella suomalaisella puunsuoja-aineella.
[ENG] Metla House is the largest wooden office building in Finland and home to the Finnish Forest Research Institute, the biggest forest research centre in Europe.
The Metla meeting room, which has been designed to resemble an overturned boat, juts out into the court through the glass wall.
The courtyard entrance is flanked by walls made of 100-year old timber and the walls have been protected against climatical conditions by "terva", a pine tar traditionally used as a wood preservative in Finland.
