Geocache Description:

<bENGLISH The origin of the Estância Termal da Piedade (Thermal Fountains Lodge of Piety) is connected to the primitive existence of two public baths, of different proprietaries and emergence, whose waters had the same origin and composition. These springs were only 60 meters apart and were both situated in the Herdade da Piedade (Cottage of Piety). The name "Piedade" ("Piety") has its origin in the edification of an Hermitage, in 1628, under the evocation of Nossa Senhora da Piedade (Our Lady of Piety). In 1855, the bath "Piedade", was used mainly by the close inhabitants of the region, and the waters' prescription was mainly for bathing and ingestion. In late 1876, the Town Hall studied the waters of the springs in order to expand the modest installations. In 1881 the installations were once again reworked, this time resulting on the construction of a second floor and several other minor tweaks that ended up damaging the emergence conditions of the waters. Characterized as mineral-medicinal, the waters of the Termas da Piedade (Thermal Fountains of Piety) are sodium chlorated , hypothermal and calcium sulfated, especially indicated for ailments of the digestive tract, rheumatoid, dermatological and allergenic conditions. The management of these baths saw a weak growth over the first 25 years. The cache itself is not inside the Hotel grounds. Common-sense told me to place it outside, despite the fact that anyone can enter the Hotel and the Hotel surroundings, even not being a guest. The cache is a regular box wrapped in a black plastic bag, and it contains besides the logbook, pencil and sharpener and some gifts for exchange.
