On the other end of the Oaklawn Park tract development from "Waiting for Arts and Crafts", stand the portals to the tract. Designed in 1905 by Charles and Henry Greene of Gamble House fame, they marked the entry to the tract begun by the South Pasadena Realty and Development Company. The portals are constructed of large stones, brick, and iron gates. Each one originally had a broad-roofed lantern hanging over Oaklawn Avenue. The iron fence around the tract is missing in many places, replaced by ugly cement block walls, but at least the stone pillars remain. There are a few beautiful old craftsman homes remaining on Oaklawn Avenue, too.
Container is micro, so bring your own pen.
