This cache is a micro in a very small, 2-acre open space parcel. This is a quick and easy hide on a short loop trail that is good for small geocaching children. There is a small rock outcropping for climbing and a little springtime stream.
Park along Lounsbury Lane at coordinates N41 17.182 and W073 27.629, which is also the trail entrance. (Please don't park in front of homes.) There is a small clearing in the brush where the trail begins. The cache is a camouflaged, waterproof matchstick holder.
This rarely used trail has good yellow blaze markings. Without the markings, the trail itself would not be particularly obvious in some areas. (The open space and trail are contained within a set of stone walls. Once you cross the stone wall at the entrance, crossing any other stone walls will take you into private property. Please stay within the open space parcel.)
The name of this tiny open space parcel is Jill’s Trail, named after Jill Kelley, a longtime Ridgefield resident and conservationist. The trail was completed in 1997 by local Girl Scouts. Local Cub Scouts have continued to maintain it by periodically clearing the entrance and remarking the yellow blazes.
