Geocache Description:

***replacement container*** If you find the old one (i couldn't!!!) please leave it in the newer, larger container. Thanks!

Though much of the Sandplain landscape had taken its current form following the melting of all stagnant ice around 10,000 years ago, some isolated features had yet to be developed. Peat accumulation, for example, began in earnest during the Holocene, or recent geologic time, and continues to this day in swamps and bogs of the region. Additionally, rivers and streams have served some role in altering the landscape, slowly eroding and altering their courses. Some other features of the Sandplain have been less static. The Sandplain's vegetation has changed through time, both naturally and as a result of human disturbance.
