Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of caches in and around the town of Wallingford. The well known crime writer Agatha Christie owned a house in the town and spent her later years there. All the caches in this series are named after her books.

This cache is linked to the churchyard where Agatha is buried.

You will first need to find where she and her second husband, Max Mallowan, are buried. You may already know where this is or have found it as part of GCMHQ2. If not follow these instructions:-

From the parking place, enter the graveyard and find the first stone on the left and the following information

A = the month in which Pte Sturgess died
B = the number who died in 1920
C = the number of soldiers commemorated here
D = the sum of the digits of the date of Pte Sturgess’ death
E = the sum of the digits of the date of Pte Clark’s’ death

(note – for D and E keep adding the numbers together until you get a single digit – eg 17.4.1957=1+7+4+1+9+5+7=34; 34=3+4=7 )

The grave is at N51 34.ABC W001 09.DEB

Once you’ve found Agatha Christie’s grave there is more information to find and more maths!

a = the number of &s on the nearby wall plaque
b = the number of trees planted to commemorate her centenary
c = the number of letters in the first name of the first person listed on the plaque
d = the number of the month when Agatha was born
e = the number of the month when Agatha died
f = the number of the month when Max was born

X = [(a+c+d) x b] – c
Y = X – [(a-e) x f]

The cache is at N51 34.X W001 09.Y

The cache is a small lock & lock box
