Geocache Description:

Once you figure the coordinates, the cache is easy to find, and is in a pretty area. The sunset the night I hid it was beautiful.

Caution - the boardwalks at North Creek Park have been replaced, but some still can be slippery and wet, or completely dry, depending on the season. Also they can be overgrown or very clear, depending on the weed-whacker schedule. Come prepared.

The above coordinates are not correct. The correct coordinates can be determined from the letter below.

Dear Franklin,

Greetings from Illinois. How are you doing today? I wanted to tell you about a curious day I had yesterday. Andrew came over my house, and we started talking about slavery. He was born in North Carolina, and sees nothing wrong with it, but to me it just doesn’t seem right. Then James walked in, which helped, because he agrees with me. Soon after that John arrived and we had quite a rousing conversation. This went on until Zachary appeared at the door. He is a Whig like me, and because he is older, I think he is quite wise. He was able to calm things down, because being from Virginia, he has experienced both sides of the argument, and can see some advantages of both sides.

We were just about to go out and ride into town when Ulysses ran in. It is his birthday today, he just turned ten, and sure is proud of it. I gave him a button spinner, and he has been buzzing it all day.

Andrew was hungry, so we all decided to go over to JP’s house. Even Zachary decided to join us. I found out that Zachary loves rutabaga pie, and JP’s wife makes the best rutabaga pie this side of the mountains. When we got there, Millard was sitting on the wicker chair right on the front porch with a big glass of lemonade. Millard sure does like to relax!

Everyone had to go home but Andrew and he stuck around awhile and talked. He doesn’t agree with me, but this slavery thing really bothers me. Maybe some day I can do something about it – at least I can dream!

Oh, I almost forgot – I am planning on running for the Illinois Assembly this year. Wish me luck! I hope all is well with you.

Your friend,

Abraham

You can check your answers for this puzzle at:

The cache is a clear plastic tube.

There used to be a letterbox on the boardwalk at this location. It was lost during the boardwalk reconstruction, but may be replaced sometime. Please do not disturb it while looking for the geocache.

Note: Jan 2022 - Due to flooding, the cache (not the boardwalk) may be under water. If you solve the puzzle with the geochecker and get to the final location, you may log a find.
