Geocache Description:

This is my first cache, and after over 200 finds it's about time too! You should be able to park somewhere near the posted co-ordinates. This is not where the cache is!

Please read this first...

Right, bit of a story with this cache. I had it all planned out, when Upham Gently appeared just over 100 metres away from where this cache was going to be. Nobody's fault, just sheer bad luck! To comply with the rules, I had to move my cache to be a bit further away. Unfortunately, reworking the puzzle to fit any new coordinates was going to be next to impossible, as you'll hopefully see when you solve it.

The puzzle's too good to waste though so I'm still going to make you solve it, but you'll need to add a "bodge factor" to get the real co-ordinates. Not very elegant, I know, but hopefully you can overlook that and enjoy both the puzzle and the walk

When you've worked out the set of co-ordinates that the puzzle gives you, please make the following adjustments:

N: +0.072

W: -0.451

This will give you a location well away from Upham Gently, but close enough that you can easily combine both caches in a single circular walk - it'll probably take about 1 to 1.5 hours depending how fast you go.

(By the way, if any sceptics do decide to visit the un-bodged co-ordinates, you'll see that there are potential cache hiding spots. The bodge factor really is just there to separate the two caches and not to move my cache out of the middle of nowhere!)

Please be careful when re-hiding the cache that it doesn't look too conspicuous from the footpath (stones on top, logs round the sides).

When logging your find, please don't give away anything about the puzzle, or I will delete your log - you have been warned!

The container is a medium sized plasic lunchbox with a few bits and pieces in as you'd expect. First three finders can take a free bottle of bubbly! (It's not real booze of course, 'cos you're not allowed to put food in caches )

My friend Michael came to me needing help. "I need to get something important to my brother, Lincoln."

"So why do you need my help?" I asked.

"We can't meet up," Michael repied. "We're being followed, and it's too dangerous for the two of us to travel together. Can you provide us with a safe drop point?"

"Sure," I said, "I have a box at the Big Hill that you can use."

"Great. How do I find it?"

I gave him an OS map of the area, my GPS receiver and the co-ordinates, and off he went. A couple of hours later, he returned. "Thank you," he said. "Lincoln will be here tomorrow. He'll need to borrow the map and GPS, but can you give him this note too?"

"No problem," I said as he walked away.

First thing the next morning, there was a knock at the door. It was Lincoln. I handed him the note, the map, and the GPS receiver. He stood silently for a few seconds, before pressing a few buttons on the GPS, and handing me back the note. "I'll leave your receiver at the drop point," he said. "But don't follow me. You can pick it up in a few hours time. I'll be long gone by then."

"Uh, Linc," I called as he started to walk away, "you're going the wrong way to get to the Big Hill!" But he just kept walking.

Later that day, I went to the Big Hill. My box was missing! In it's place I found a message simply saying:

"Box moved. Read note."

I pulled out Michael's note, and read it over and over. It's all a bit too cryptic for me though. If only I could decypher it, maybe I'd get my map and GPS back. I need them to go caching! Can you help?
