Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden somewhere near the church, it shouldn't be very difficult to find it.

The cache is a black film canister, it includes only a log (original). Since the cache is so small I couldn't fit a pencil in it, so make sure you bring along something to write with in the log! The main purpose of this cache is to visit the church and the citadel in Cristian (Grossau). Rural fortress and military church "St. Sevastius" consists of military church and defense citadel. It is a historical monument build in the second part of the XIII century. Between 1480 and 1495 this Roman Basilika was converted from the Hermannstaedter master Andreas Lapidica (who also built the church of Mosna in styles of the late gothic) into a gothical hall church with three ships and three old arene, whereby the northern side ship became later a vestry. For defense the four arcades of the western tower were course-bricked and the tower with two further floors was increased. At the end of the 15th and at the beginning of the 16th century the church castle was increased by a double defense wall. The altar originates from the year 1719 and is a certification of the baroque art of the country. The verge of the altar in the style Rococo was added at the end of the 18th century. Happy hunting!
