Visit the four impressive houses in Newland on the short route
then plump for the mystery house... and the cache.
The above coords are for parking, so please park the car before
you start.
For extra entertainment why not see if you can spot the fake on
your route (locals need not apply). One of the houses in the
village was built 3-4 years ago, but appears to be much older.
There is also a barn conversion from 6 years ago.
Important: Please
do NOT drive around this cache. It is a
short pleasant walk and I do not want to upset my fellow villagers
by introducing cars to our two back roads.

Question |
A |
House #1 definitely has enough room for the
relatives to visit and offers views over the 12th century church
and Almshouses. It also has a snooker room on the second floor to
keep the boys amused. |
Number of panes of glass in each of the 29
windows at the front of the house. |
B |
House #2 is set in a hollow and has a large
cellar which periodically gets flooded allowing the residents kids
(some years back) to paddle a boat in it. |
How many attic windows at the front of the
house? |
C |
House #3 is the only non-private residence in
Newland and is owned by a charity. They always have fantastic life
sized illuminated characters in the garden at Christmas time and
geese parade the gardens all year round. Located on the
corner. |
What colour are the window frames. Take the
number of letters in this word. |
D |
House #4 was owned by the church until recently.
It is also the nearest of the bunch to the village
pub. The house is ivy covered and set
back from the road. |
How many pairs of windows at the front of this
house. |
Cache |
The Mystery House is another small
house. You think your 6' Christmas tree is big? This entrance hall
takes a fully fledged fir
tree. |
The cache can be found at :
N51° 4(C+B).(A-B-B)(D-A-B)0 W002°
3(D+B).(C+B)(D+B)1 |
Checksum : Last digit of A+B+C+D = 7
You may need to brush past some holly to retrieve the cache, but
this will only be a problem for the most delicate of souls.
There are two other great caches starting at the same parking
point, so check out the 12th century pub and then try another
cache.
