My son and I were riding along the American Tobacco Trail hunting caches a couple weeks ago. We stopped for a rest around here and I thought "Man, I can't believe there aren't more caches along this trail". We were on a long (for my son) stretch in between Henry's Cache and Mile Marker 4. So I thought there should be a cache as a way station.
"Way Station" is also the name of one of my favorite science fiction novels. It was writen by Clifford Simak and is about a guy who, in the 1870's, make a deal with some aliens to let his rural farmhouse be used as an inter-stellar stopover/transfer station for beings traveling between worlds. So on the outside it still looks like a nineteenth century hose, while on the inside it is something very different. Good book. I think I left a copy in "A Journey To Tralfamadore" over in the Duke Gardens.
Cache is not a micro but trade items must be fairly small. Coins and most travel bugs should be ok.
The ATT is "closed" after dark, and I would very much suggest that rule be followed for your own safety.
