DEUTSCH:
Auf dem Galgenberg stand tatsächlich noch bis zum Jahre 1828 einen Galgen, dieser diente aber eher der Abschreckung, denn es nicht bewiesen, dass es dort je eine Hinrichtung gab. Um den Berg herum ziehen sich zwei- bis dreireihig Preßhäuser und Keller, weiters gibt es eine Kirchturmspitze auf seiner höchsten Erhebung. Diese blieb 1972 bei der Sprengung der alten baufälligen Kirche in Wildendürnbach zur Verwunderung aller so gut erhalten, dass man sich entschloss, die Kirchturmspitze am Galgenberg wieder aufzustellen. Aus diesem Grund wird der Galgenberg auch liebevoll „Dorf ohne Rauchfang mit der versunkenen Kirche“ genannt.

Actually a gallow stood on the Galgenberg until the year 1828, but it was more an act as a deterrent because it isn’t proved that there has ever been an execution. Around the hill there are Preßhäuser (buildings where wine is made) and cellars in two up to three rows and there is also a church spire on its highest elevation. After the blowing-up of the old church in Wildendürnbach in 1972, everyone was astonished that the church spire has not been damaged so the decision was made to rebuild the church spire at the Galgenberg. That’s the reason why the Galgenberg is also lovingly called “Village without chimneys with a sunken church”. For more information see http://www.galgenberg.at/ (only in german)
