Booroomba - internationally known by rock-climbers. This meander will take you around the base of the South Buttress along the bottom of the cliff line back towards Cocker's Gully. "While only reaching a height of 50m, the South Buttress has a high concentration of quality face and crack climbs. Steep, clean granite is encountered on most sections of the buttress" - ACT Granite guidebook.

Imagine yourself high up on those cliffs. A climber needs to be prepared and to be very present in the moment.

Park at Booroomba Rocks Car Park and walk up to an open area near the lookout. Turn left and follow the track down a wide gully with chossy boulders on the right down to the start of the climbs on the Southern Buttress. Turn right and follow very closely to the bottom of the cliff faces towards the GZ scrambling over rocks as necessary.

One of first climbs that you will come across is Integral Crack 48 metres high with sustained face climbing.

You will pass "Roy's Crack", "Peter Pan", "Purple Haze", "Possum", "Sipple", and finally ending up with "Lazarro's Staircase", "Matrix" and "Vomit"

This cache is named in honour of the last-named climb, which is a steep corner crack with good hand jamming.

The cache container is an ammo box filled with a mixed bag of swaps - including a few odds and ends to complement the theme. We have included some photos to help find the cache.

If you don't have a rope and climbing gear, we recommend that you return the way you came.
