Geocache Description:

A quick and easy Kids and Family Friendly cache, in Elk River's Hillside City Park!

Cache Details

This afternoon while the girls were napping, my 6-yr old boy Ryan and I were trying to shake off the rainy-morning blues. What better way than to hide a new cache or two?

This cache is hidden in Hillside City Park, which is home to six miles of challenging mountain bike trails. Minnesota Build Land Access Share the Trail (BLAST) built and maintains these trails, which travel in a twisty fashion through 80 acres of great oak forest land. Like many others, we discovered the park and the area while searching for kleiner's cache GC3318, "ER MTN BIKE & HIKE". Ryan found the hiding spot, and gave this cache it's name because we liked the buzzing of the high-voltage wires overhead. You can see Ryan, and the Live Wires, in the picture above - sorry for the quality, but it came from my camera phone, what can I say? While you're here, be sure to check out kleiner's cache as well...after all, you made it this far!

Location, Parking, and Access

Free, legal, nearby street parking is available at N 45° 17.737 W 093° 32.543. From there, it's a short walk under the Live Wires to the cache area, where you can either bushwhack directly in, or enjoy a more interesting hike by following the twisty BMX trails through the forest.

You are looking for a small Lock 'n Lock container, hidden in the usual sort of place. It starts out with small toys and trinkets, hand-selected by the 'Noles kidlets from their own personal collection, along with a non-trackable but hard-to-find Chippewa Valley geocoin for the first finder. This is a great area to hike or bike, and Ryan and I hope you enjoy the park as much as we did today! As always - thanks, have fun, and happy hunting!
