Geocache Description:

The coordinates are the starting point for a small multi which will lead you around the farmhouse area and it is around 1 km in total length. There is a very good car parking facility at N57 50.380 E12 07.106 and even if it should be filled with dog owners training in the area there are more possibilities along the road or at the former farm Roten nearby.

Björsjöås is a farmhouse with a long known history, actually back to the 14the century, at the border of the Vättlefjäll nature preservative area.

In this area there are many lakes popular for canoeing or fishing. Hiking is well supported by the many windshields and ready prepared places for grilling. A good chance for bringing a picnic basket.

The farmhouse is also hosting 3 small cottages for overnight staying. Bigger groups, up to 28 people, can come together here for activities. The farm is owned by Göteborg community since the 1960s but is leased since 2019 from a company offering nature turism, Björsjöås Vildmark.

Sheep are kept here to keep the fields open.

There is a lab cache here and there are very many other caches around also for those who want to extend their visit here. Why not combine them both ?

Access to the area is best by going the 190 NE from Hjällbo, leaving it close to the Bergum church and following the signs for Björsjöås. The road splits in two just before Roten where also parking for Björsjöås is sign marked to the left. This can ideally also be combined as a bicycling trip starting at the old railroad track in Hjällbo. The X3 bus has a bus stop just where the road branches off the 190 to Bergums church leaving you for a 5 km walk.

At the coordinates for the starting point you are standing in front of an information sign leading you around the interesting remains of former living in this area.

Please note that information must be collected while you make your walk reading the signs. Have a paper and a pencil available. A small mini calculator could come in handy too but should really not be needed.

The following questions need to be answered by reading the signs and assigning the letters, which are to be replaced by the figures found, according to below.

* From what year is the oldest known map of the farm ? = AAAA (found on sign number 3)

* What year was the owner of the farm accused for making illegal liquor ? EEEE (found on sign number 4)

* When did Krabbefejden take place ? = BBBB (found on sign number 5)

* Phone number on the signs 612C70 ? = C

* What year (decade) did one start to grow new woods here ? DDDD

With the information on hand you should do the following small math :

XXX = (DDDD - BBBB) + (EEEE - AAAA) + (C+1)

YYY = ((AAAA - BBBB) * C) + (DDDD - AAAA) - (C+2)

The cache can then be found at : N 57 50.XXX E12 06.YYY.

Please replace the cache in the same way as you found it, well hidden !

The cache is a 0,75 l snap lock box with a log book and some trading items.

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PEN !!
