Malcolm Wilson Micro Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

HaLiJuSaPa: The Cat was right about this one, lots of (what I presume is) Sandy damage at GZ. Thought about going in and upping the terrain (like I did with Where I Walk Tuckahoe) as it's not completely undoable but this had a great run and maybe someone else will have a good idea at this park. Thanks all!

Geocache Description:

Nice (and little-known) county park in Yonkers-Tuckahoe border area just off of Bronx River Parkway.

This can essentially be considered an "indirect adoption" of the now-archived Malcolm Wilson Cache (GCPNTG). Though archived by the Admin, we asked that cache's owner and she was OK with our putting a new cache in what is more or less the same area.

This park is named for Malcolm Wilson, who was from this area. He is mostly known for a footnote role as a "caretaker" NY State governor (kind of like David Paterson at the moment until 2010). When Nelson Rockefeller resigned the governorship in late 1973, Wilson took it over. However, he lost the election to Hugh Carey a year later and thus was never elected to the post (similar to the sitting US President at the time, Gerald Ford; whose Vice Pres ironically was Rockefeller). The Tappan Zee Bridge was renamed for him in 1994, though nobody locally refers to it by the new name.

Given its past history of multiple mugglings, we have made this a log-only micro, a 35 mm film cannister. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PEN! We have learned that in areas that seem to frequently get muggled, these kind of caches tend to have "staying power". Nonetheless, please rehide exactly as found (not only to prevent muggling, but because otherwise the hint/clue doesn't make sense)!

There is a parking area across the street from the park entrance; however, please be careful crossing the road! The path to the cache starts in an open field, and goes near the historic site of Yonkers first Grist Mill.
