This is Ripley’s, my energetic, playful yellow lab, favorite
places to go for a walk. If you bring your dog: Here’s what Ripley
recommends… As you leave the parking lot, take the glebe trail to
the right and follow that down and around to the stream. There are
a couple of spots perfect for the dog to go for a swim! I like to
do this because by the time we end the walk she is dry for the
drive home. Continue along the path to the bridge across the
stream. No leash is required, but I would bring one along because
the land is shared by the BRLA and you may run into a horse or
two.
Regardless if you head straight down through the glebe or out
and around, when you arrive to the bridge, you will have to follow
the BRLA trail to the sanctuary. (There are signs.) Once in the
sanctuary, the blue trail, also called lower loop trail, will lead
you to the cache. There is no need to bushwack until the last 30
feet.
The hike in total is about 1.5 miles. I’ve set the terrain
rating at 3.5 stars because of the ups and downs and usual roots,
rocks, and sticks associated with a “trail less traveled”.
If you do bring along your dog, Ripley would like to know what
he or she thought. When you log your visit, let Ripley know if your
dog approved of her recommendation.
P.S. Ripley wants to let your dog know about the great smelling
stone wall on the right when you enter the sanctuary!
