This cache is located on an island in the lower Skagit River, in a grove of hardwoods, and near the island's highest point. With some difficulty, it can be reached by dedicated cachers, but hopefully NOT by high "flood stage" waters. The real trick is gaining access to the cache. To simply cross over from the closest point on the north shore is not legally permissible. Please respect private property rights. Using a kayak, canoe, or rubber raft would work, as well as small motorized watercraft. One of the closest entry points is the old Lyman Ferry parking area, located at N48* 30.386, W122* 01.344.
The floods and windstorms of 2006 and 2007 have dislodged 1,000's trees, many which line much of the shoreline, are heaped in piles within the river, or show up as individual "sleepers". Beware! In spite of lurking dangers, the ever-changing river has a beauty of its own, and hopefully, for you, discovering "Above the Flood" cache would only be part of a much larger and more meaningful outdoor adventure. Good luck!
Please place the cache back no lower than you found it.
