Cette cache est situé sur la cote nord d’une petite vallée qui passé entre la D 706 sud est à Carmensac et la D 48, environs 10 minutes d’une petite rue.
This cache is situated on the north side of a small valley that runs north west from the D 48 and Carmensac to the D 706 near Les Eyzies, around 15 minutes walk from a minor road.
Le parking proposé est gratuit et le départ de cette balade se situe entre l’Auberge d’Etang Joli et le camping « La Combe » propriété de la famille Heyvaert. Le départ du sentier se situe aux coordonnées N44°54.825 E001°00.900 tout près de la mason de la famille Heyvaert. Vous trouverez un poteau coiffé d’un plastique vert. Tournez à gauche et prenez le sentier balisé (marquage jaune). Après 5 minutes de marche vous arriverez à un village en ruine dont la plupart des maisons sont à votre droite. Vous pouvez explorer les maisons ne possédant plus de toiture (faites attention aux poutres).
ATTENTION : Ne pas stationner sur les emplacements du parking, ce qui provoquera la colère des propriétaires.
La cache est située dans une petite maison en ruine et sans porte. Vous trouverez un four en ruine sur votre gauche ainsi qu’une grotte dans la direction du sud. Le imposant chêne vert à trois dans la maison.
You can park for free by the roadside between the Auberge d’Etang Joli et Camping “La Combe” (Famille Heyvaert). The footpath starts at N44°54.825 E001°00.900 near to the Heyvaert’s house and you will see a green-capped post. Go left here and climb a footpath well signed with yellow marks. After around 5 minutes you will arrive at the deserted, ruined village. Most of this is on your right and you can leave the track to explore the roofless houses.
WARNING: Do NOT park your car at the camping site! The owner has deliberately blocked cars in with his tractor so that they cannot leave.
The cache is sited in a small ruined house with an empty doorway on your left when you look up towards the remains of an oven and a cave from the south. There is an evergreen oak with 3 trunks growing in the house.
October 2008: Several finders have asked how the village came to be deserted. I can't say for sure but the Phylloxera devastation of the vineyards can't have helped and I'm fairly sure it wasn't the plague. Also with no decent road or water supply, the inhabitants possibly felt there were easier places to live.
