This cache is located near the Yough River Trail in Adelaide, PA. It is across the river from the A. Overholt & Co. Distillery in Broad Ford, PA.

The Overholt Distillery was built in 1854 and was situated on the Youghiogheny River floodplain in the town of Broad Ford. The complex consisted of an office building, granary and grain elevators connected by conveyor to a series of joined buildings - the boiler house and engine room, distillery and fermenting houses, machine shop and drying house - and a number of warehouses and bottling houses.

Its product, A. Overholt & Co. Whiskey, would become Old Overholt, the most well-known rye whiskey ever made and is still being distilled today by Jim Beam Brands Co.

I placed the cache across the river from the distillery near the remains of a swinging bridge that used to cross the river here. This was a suspension foot bridge built to allow Overholt employees (who lived on the west side of the river in the village of Adelaide) to walk back and forth to work. I have included in the cache container a picture of what the bridge used to look like. Today the piers are still there and some cables and boards are hanging down from them.
You can either drive pretty close to this cache by using Adelaide Road or if you feel like biking you can park at the Yough River Park in Connellsville and head down the Yough River Trail to get to the cache. It is a 4.6 mile round trip from the Yough River Park. After finding the cache make sure you walk over to the rivers edge and check out what remains of the bridge.
