Geocache Description:

This is the first KC area virtual cache! There is no actual cache container or log book (other than the virtual log book on this web site). The location at the above coordinates are for “The Elijah Cornell Chase House Circa 1869. The Oldest Continuous Residence in Johnson County Kansas”.

There is a plaque on the home from “The Daughters of the American Colonists”. Please note: this is still an occupied private residence, not a museum to tour or anything like that. I talked to the owners son and he showed me some pictures and gave me a very brief outside tour and indicated that the owner loves to share the history with people, but please respect their privacy. The house can be enjoyed from the view from the street. I found this site one day and since it’s a bit of rare local history, wanted to share it with you. The object is to note what construction material the home is made of. This is a nine year old Virtual Cache that was placed before the rules that I disagree to, but: "Virtual caches can only be logged if you have actually been to the cache's location. I/we are currently deleting logs by cachers who have clearly not been to this cache location as instructed by Groundspeak."
