The traditional cache is in the forest about 50 yards from the
castle under a group of trees.
The village of Kereki is 6 miles from Lake Balaton in Somogy
County. One of its points of interest is a medieval castle ruin.
The castle can be reached several ways; the shortest one is
difficult to navigate in rainy-muddy weather. The suggested parking
is at a N46°47,167 E17°54,1790. From here, you can go as the crow
flies (this is the shortest route, but it is quite steep). The
traditional cache is in the forest about 50 yards from the castle
under a group of trees. The castle was presumably built during the
first decades of the XIV century. Its walls were carried off during
the XVIII-XIX centuries for building, among others, the church
(1830) of Kerek and a Hunters’ Lodge nearby. The ruinous
lodge has not been fully restored even though there were smaller
excavation in 1961-62.
