Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache is part of the Maine R.O.S.E. Series and is meant to be
really obvious, simple and easy. It's perfect for cachers who want
a quick find, or who are not up for a physical challenge. The
purpose of this series is to promote caching to everyone, and
create a fun family cache experience. Some fellow cachers get
discouraged by vague descriptions and caches that appear to be
difficult hides. Our attempt here is to make the cacher aware of
the entire situation before they attempt the cache. If you have any
comments that should be added, please let us know.
Directions: CACHE IS NOT AVAILABLE AT NIGHT. This
cache is located roughly 5.5 miles out the Kennebec Road from the
Main Road in Hampden. It has been placed at the entrance of a cedar
mill with permission from the foreman. Due to the size and number
of large wood hauling trucks and other machinery coming in and out,
please make this a QUICK grab and go...hence the name. You may pull
in and park in front of the cedar gate. Please pull in and park as
far to the left side of the drive as you can. Do not go beyond the
gate.
Parking: There is space for one car to pull off into
the driveway and park. Even though the gate may be closed, there
still maybe trucks that pull in.
Difficulty: This cache has been rated 1.5 for
difficulty because the cache is not in plain sight. You will need
to remove the cache from a natural/modified man made item near a
tree.
Terrain: This cache has been rated 1.5 for terrain
because there is no trail.
Distance: The distance from the parking area to the
cache is roughly 15-20 feet, depending on where you choose to
park.
Cache Container: The container is a medium
rectangular Lock N' Lock type container.
More Information: This series has been developed in
collaboration with Hollora and Becket. We have each committed to
hiding a dozen rose caches in our area. The release of these roses
will be sporatic in hopes to have three dozen live by Valentine's
Day 2007.
