Carson Waterfall Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

NevadaWolf: Okay, confirmed this is gone. Seems somehow my winter brush cover is thinner in the spring??

Since going this long with no desire to actually replace the cache, I'll say farewell before the road bird does it for me - like he keeps threatening.

Thanks to everyone who ventured up here to enjoy one of Carson's hidden gems.

Geocache Description:

The King's Canyon Waterfall (famous for the recent Waterfall Fire) is a stunning location that very few know about.

The Cache:

This is a convert from the GPS the Game website. So that will explain the markings on the side because I wanted finders to know that this originally was not a GC.com cache. But I pulled the GPS Game stuff out and replaced it with an ammo can and swag. Here here for real caches!

Being in a steep canyon and thick tree cover gave me an really lousy accuracy, like 30-40 feet. Averaging the coords helped a little but not much. So, the hint is really specific.

Park at the cache "Information Please" and walk up the fire road. The gate is there to keep unauthorized vehicles out. The road is moderately steep, but hard pack dirt makes the walk easy. When you get to the monitoring station, the 'trailhead' is on the north side of the fence. Minimal rock hopping involved.

Now the cache is located at the trailhead to make an easy find. Because this area is visited by many people, please rehide the cache as best you can. There are more rocks further up the trail and in the summer the bushes will fill in.

The Waterfall:

If you are somewhat fit and have a great sense of balance, you can follow the trail up to another 200-300 feet to the waterfall itself. This is steep and involves some scrambling on the rock outcroppings. I've included the waypoint for the base of the falls.

Please CITO when you visit. I cleaned out an arm load of cans and some clothing(?).

Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy seeing this hidden jewel in Carson City.

This is the winter view of the waterfall:
