Zamek
Nejstarsi a nejvyznamnejsi pamatkou v Podebradech je zamek. Jeho
rozlehly areal prosel slozitym stavebnim vyvojem. Z poloviny 13.
stoleti pochazi nejstarsi casti kamenneho hradu - valcova vez a
cast jizniho kridla, v niz je nyni umisten Pamatnik krale Jiriho. V
polovine 16. stoleti doslo k renesancni prestavbe hradu v cisarskou
letni rezidenci, posledni vetsi upravy byly provedeny ve stylu
klasickeho baroka v polovine 18. stoleti. Od roku 1945 patri zamek
ministerstvu skolstvi.

The Chateau
The Chateau is the oldest and most important landmark of the
town of Podebrady. It underwent numerous reconstructions in the
past. The oldest parts of the stone castle, which now house the
King George Memorial, date from the mid-13th century. In the middle
of the 16th century, the castle underwent a Renaissance-style
reconstruction into a summer residence. The latest Baroque
Classicism style reconstructions dates from the mid-18th century.
Since 1945, the chateau has been owned by the Ministry of
Education.
