Located at a
historic trestle bridge on the edge of the Lawson State park. The
bridge was part of the Wodonga-Cudgewa rail line many years ago,
and now is part of the High Country Rail trail bike
ride.

The numerous
trestle bridges found along the Wodonga-Cudgewa railway line are a
feature that give it a unique place in the railway history of
Australia. This bridge over Boggy Creek was thought to be
constructed of Blue Gum, a tall Eucalypt species found growing in
moist areas. The piles are marked with the month and year of
construction, as well as a P or D to indicate whether it was placed
or driven into the foundations. This bridge is a four pile design
in order to give it greater stability and the ability to carry
greater loads. Earlier 2 pile design bridges were upgraded to four
piles in order to support some trains which weighed in excess of
500 tonnes. Many of the original bridges were replaced or
maintained with more modern materials, however, this bridge remains
as it was constructed in 1915.
Although the
main road passes close by the cache, do not be tempted to stop on
the roadside to retrieve it. There is a gravel road to the
signposted designated car park close by. It is a short and easy
300m walk to the bridge from the car park.
Please observe and obey
signs in the area. There is no need to walk onto or under the
bridge to retrieve this cache.
Cache is a
500ml clip top container. It is also placed in a position which is
exposed to the elements, so please try to cover it to protect it
from the sun and rain.
