Situated atop Saddle Mountain (elevation 3037’).
The striking massif, visible south from I-10 at Tonopah, is a proposed BLM wilderness west of rapidly growing Phoenix. This is rugged Sonoran Desert terrain with harsh flora and little water.
You must be bold, fit, and desert savvy. Visitors are few. The strenuous, non-technical climb can be accomplished by alternate routes, which may require extensive cross-country scrambling. Much of the approach is unmarked and untracked. Please refrain from placing rock cairns or ducks.
Views from the summit are stunning. A climbers’ register rests here, and the cache is nearby. A log and pencil are inside. It is placed unobtrusively. Please rehide it the same way.
Live the adventure and be safe. Climb on.
