Geocache Description:

We'll be cleaning up a park on April 26th that's been badly abused in the past as a place to dump trash.

This park has giving geocachers much past pleasure as the site of many caches. The GGA would like to do our part to help restore the park by having a clean up event here. We will be meeting with Susan Joffre from the National Park Service at 10:00 to begin a two to three hour clean up project. Susan will supply trash bags and some tools, but you should bring gloves and wear appropriate footwear.

Although the Chattahooche National Recreation Area has asked that we abide by the NPS ban on physical caches we would like to thank the park staff for their past tolerance and support by helping to restore this park. Perhaps you can sneak off and log the remaining caches after the event -before they are eventually relegated to history.

At the March monthly GGA meeting 20 geocachers signed up to participate at this event. If you were unable to attend that meeting and would like to help out as well as meet your fellow geocachers please log your intent with a note here. For additional information on this event and the GGA please log into our group's discussion boards. Susan Joffre and the other NPS authorities have been very enthusiastic about our offer to help clean up this park. Let's follow through on this with a good showing. It will give us a chance to meet Susan as well as possibly some of the rangers who patrol the Chattahooche River parks. Let's show them what kind of a group geocachers are!
