Geocache Description:

Western Australia's First cache. 27 March 2001. Beware the plants covering the cache had a serrated edge and can cut your hands. Kick gently to find the cache or use a walking pole to poke around.

UPDATE:Same location...edited to reduce confusion. Use your GPS to get near the cache area, then turn LEFT off main trail from car park (away from the beach), 4m from track look at the base of a tree with a 150mm or bigger trunk. Follow the chain that the cache is attached to. Rehide the cache well (it is painted to blend in) This is the first West Australian Cache...and so we decided to make it EASY..Its out along the road toward the old Quarantine station and just off the "Point Possession" walk trail...Best place to park is at "Whalers cove" car park. Cache is now a very Well Camouflaged AMMO box. contents: Varied...but originally had some laminated cards with our details on and a couple of fridge magnets from APEX (a club for 18 to 40 that encourages family association)We were there for their state convention and had a very nice time being entertained by the local branch of the club. They showed us the local sites like the Whaling Station and provided us with accommodation at the old Quarantine Station, and they had us all up singing to Karaoke...Thanks Guys...We had the best weekend and Albany really is a gem of a place. So do yourself a favor....Go to Albany ,find our Cache and enjoy the region like we did. For those that may not know in the early days of Geocaching Jeremy Irish, one of the co-founders of Geocaching.com approved this cache personally. They now use local approvers to do the hard work. We would like to thank them for the continued good work for the Geocaching community.
