Britain's Eighth Most Remote Event Cache (Jersey) Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: A tad late on archiving this due to other travels and trying to catch up - sorry.

A sincere Thank You! to everyone who came along and helped make this event a small, but memorable one, in relaxing weather. After the heat of previous days, it was nice to cool off. Glad I made it on time too, as I worked my way across the island to this, caching all the way. Had to wait for some Italians to move on before finding the local cache and... well, more when I log my attendance. Special mention for the cake though [:)]

Lovely to meet everyone (some again) and I hope you've put your AANDs to use, or dropped them into caches. Event photos will follow on my Attended log, so add this meet to your watch list if you'd like to see them (so many caches/events to catch up on!)

Cheers again for joining me on the sands folks.

Geocache Description:

This series is now very well established; an off-the-beaten-track location that offers visitors a very special experience... Sunday, 15th of June 2014 from 2pm-4pm (low tide 3.29pm BST.)

A picnic-style event to discuss caching, swap trackables and relax in the sun (tbc).

I'll be wearing my yellow eTrex and will be sure to dress for the conditions. Please also wear substantial footwear and remember you accept all personal risks in visiting this tidal cache location! You can find a good map of the island here, if you're not familiar with Jersey.

The tidal island Ile au Guerdain in Portelet Bay on the south coast of Jersey is the target for this year's "most extreme geocache event" - the eighth. I visited it in 2010 for a puzzle cache and thought it was the perfect spot for a cache meet. In the past I've organised 'Extreme Cache Events' to St Kilda off the Outer Hebrides (UK's most westerly point, bar the disputed Rockall) in 07, St Agnes in the Isles of Scilly (UK's most southerly island) in 08 and Unst in the Shetlands (UK's most northerly- bar Muckle Flugga and Out Stack) in 09. In 2010 it was Jersey's turn, as Britian's most southerly populated point, to get the Simply Paul Remote Cache Event treatment. Lowerstoft had to wait its turn, until 2011. Anyway, I enjoyed Jersey so much I wanted to return and a chance to walk the coast of Guernesy (see my profile for details - I did the Jersey coast walk in 2010) is bringing me back in 2014 for another caching holiday adventure.
