Geocache Description:

No Night Caching, please. That being said, reasonable early evening visits, say before 7:00 PM, should be OK, seeing as this was a fall cache placement. You may find this location "busy" from around 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sundays, but are welcome to find the cache then.

This cache is located on the property of Riverside-Salem Church on West River Road on Grand Island, with permission of the Co-Pastors Jon & Cathy Rieley-Goddard, as well as a unanimous vote of the congregation. The cache placers are of the belief that Geocaching should take you to interesting places, and this sure is one. Here you will find a Labyrinth a Peace Pole (both of which I've Waymarked), a Straw Bale Building, a TeePee, and a Nature trail. I figured I didn't have to give you wikipedia links to what a TeePee and a Nature Trail were. There are pamphlets in the cache describing who Riverside-Salem are, and what they do. Please feel free to take one.

How to locate this cache: Park on the side of West River Road, at the coordinates below. It is perfectly legal to pull your car off the side of the road, and park there. Your GPS receiver or Smartphone should lead you up the woodchip driveway, and you should see this sign marking the entrance to the Nature Trail:

Head over the small wooden bridge, and towards the cache. It's only a few hundred feet into the woods. Please stay on the wood chip trail as much as possible. There is plenty of poison ivy off the trail. And when in the woods on Grand Island, you always need to be aware of Ticks in season. Ticks get on your person when you brush up against weeds and brush which they are sitting on. After finding the cache, you can stay on the Nature trail, which basically makes a 180 degree loop, and ends at the back of the straw bale building, a must see while you're here.

How to open this cache: This cache is a throw back to the old days of Geocaching, a 5 gallon bucket. It is painted Olive Drab (Army Green). It contains the previously mentioned Riverside-Salem Pamphlets, as well as many trade items. Please trade fairly. It even contains an almost replica of the original can of beans (same manufacturer, different brand name). This bucket is moderately difficult to open, but has been modified to make it easier to open than originally manufactured. Start at one tab, as shown below, and work your way around in a circle. Please close tightly when you're done.

Enjoy your visit! Feel free to walk around the grounds and check out the previously mentioned Labyrinth, Peace Pole, Straw Bale building, and TeePee, although the TeePee is often taken down for the winter months. There are many ruts in the ground on the property, please watch your step.
