Geocache Description:

Update May 28, 2023 - I visited the cache today, 23 years and 2 days since I originally placed this cache - Who would have guessed it would still be going strong after all these years? I hear it's like the 6th oldest cache still running? As for myself - 23 years older, a bit heavier, and WAY more out of shape.... My last visit was 3-4 years ago. My goal for today was to put back in place the ammo box container originally used for this cache. During my last visit 3-4 years ago I swapped-in a temporary box, allowing me to take the ammo box home for needed maintenance - the hinge had broken such that the box no longer sealed. This original box is back in place as of today - 5/28/23, with a fixed hinge and new coat of paint. I also added a new logbook for signing. The substitute box, a plastic box with snap-tight lid was small enough so I just placed it into the ammo box. Other observations.... Lots of trail erosion since I placed this cache 23 years ago, many herd paths too. Seems to me too that the hills have got steeper? A few Notes:

A:  The ammo box was not the box used when I created this cache in 2000. I used a 5-gal bucket with a gamma-seal lid. Well - that did not work out too well - at times it was almost impossible to unscrew that lid, also, it would freeze shut and finally someone did not tighten that lid enough, allowing the bucket to fill with water (oops). Exact timing on when I substituted in the ammo can has been lost to time - perhaps looking back through the logs one might figure it out?

B: I have the original log books, stored safely in a fireproof safe. They're mostly still readable, however in rough shape from water damage.

Original posting:

I have placed one in the Finger Lakes region of Western New York State. It's located on public land.

Where: Datum WGS84 N 42 Degrees 40.088' W 77 Degrees 20.086'

UTM Coordinates: 18T 0308671 UTM 4726605

Stash: A .50 Cal Ammo box containing a log book, and a variety of "prizes" for those who find the stash.

All contents are enclosed in individual zip lock baggies, and the log book requests that all who take a prize also place something of interest in the stash. Additionally, in the log book this web site URL is listed as well as my e-mail address. Visitors are encouraged to leave a message in the log book and take a picture of themselves (Leave the camera in the stash)!

The stash has been mostly concealed w/ rocks, leaves, sticks, etc...

I suppose bushwacking to this stash may be possible however I caution the terrain is VERY rugged, hilly, etc... If you choose the best approach no dangerous terrain navigation is necessary
