Makuta Teridax: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

I have earlier asked about an update on what is going on at the site. That is now more than two months ago. Due to lack of response from the owner, this cache is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

CHRISTIAN BJELLAND

Christian Bjelland (født 30. mai 1858 i Høyland i Sandnes; død 9. mai 1927 i Stavanger) var kjøpmann, reder og en av de største innen hermetikk i Stavanger og Norge.

Bjelland ble født på gården Åreskjold i den daværende Høiland kommune. I 1868 da Christian var 10 år flyttet familien Bjelland til Stavanger. Da gikk Christian på Sandvigen skole i Bjergsted.

Christian Bjelland er assosierert med hermetikk og Stavanger. Han slo seg stort opp og var kjent over store deler av verden. Chr. Bjellands fabrikker var de største i Stavanger fra århundreskiftet og langt inn i nedgangstidene for hermetikkproduksjonen i byen.

	Christian Bjelland grunnla Chr. Bjelland & Co A/S, som fort ble en av landets og verdens største hermetikkprodusenter. For sin innsats for norsk hermetikkindustri ble han i 1907 utnevnt til Ridder, 1. Klasse av Kgl. Norske St. Olavs Orden. Han hadde stort sett kontroll over hele fabrikkasjonskjeden fra fiskefartøyer, røykerier, blikkboksfabrikk og etikettfabrikk («iddisar»). Det eneste bedriften var avhengig av utenfra var olivenolje.
	«Ikke noe snikksnakk, Bjellands hermetikk, takk,» var et allment kjent munnhell på 1900-tallet. Logoen til Bjelland, «Mannen med fisken» tegnet av Th. Kittelsen, ble sammen med bedriftens varemerke «King Oscar» verdenskjente.
Fram til 1964 hadde bedriften Chr. Bjelland & Co A/S produksjonslokaler og kontorer på Skagen. Fram til våren 1983 var så det drift på Verven og Strømsteinen, da Norway Foods Ltd besluttet å legge ned.
